IPO ne znači nužno izlazak na burzu kao takvu gdje svatko može kupiti dionice ako već imaju u planu ulagače, ne znam vidio bi cijenu dionica Svi očekuju da Microsoft uloži u Canonical, koja bi to zabava bila za čitanje, godinama ne bi stajale rasprave Tko god uložio ne vjerujem da će ići na bilo kakve egzibicije na desktopu iako se ne bi žalio na jedan profesionalno osmišljen i dizajniran desktop environment, vjerojatnije ulaganje je u serverski, cloud i IoT dio gdje je Ubuntu dosta velik jer se od toga može dobro zaraditi, od Linux desktopa nema zarade.

I’ll be starting the weekly round-up posts again now that the release is out and 18.04 is getting under way. At this early stage in the development cycle we’re spending a week or so tidying up the loose ends from 17.10, SRUing the important fixes that we’ve found, getting ready to sync new packages from Debian, and generally doing the groundwork to give us a clear run at 18.04. As you know, 18.04 will be an LTS release and so we will be focusing on stability and reliability this cycle, as well as a few new features. I’ll give a more detailed view into 18.04 in the coming weeks.

So, what’s been going on this week? You can read the full minutes of our weekly meeting here, but here’s a quick overview…

The Advisory Board is a body of stakeholder organizations and companies who support the GNOME Project by providing funding and expert consultation. The board includes Google, the Linux Foundation, and the Free Software Foundation, among others.

“The recently launched Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) had been widely anticipated as the first version of Ubuntu to switch to GNOME. The success of this release is thanks to the GNOME community. We’re excited to join the GNOME Foundation Advisory Board to continue our collaboration in closer partnership.” said, Jamie Bennett, Vice President of Devices and IoT Engineering at Canonical

Ubuntu Server installer Subiquity je sada poboljšan i biti će spreman za 18.04 LTS.

Ubuntu 17.10 je i u finalnoj verziji u biti beta softver, to je prijelazno izdanje sa Waylandom, novim desktopom itd. Meni radi dobro osim što app indicator ima problema sa nekim ikonama da ih ne prikazuje ili su premalene, ali 17.10 tko želi koristiti treba koristiti kao izdanje za feedback developerima, počeli su dogovori za novu shell, GTK i icon temu za Ubuntu i što dalje srediti na desktopu tako da ovo izdanje treba gledati kao beta OS koji služi kao test za slijedeći Ubuntu LTS Neće sigurno preći na KDE jer su već počeli sudjelovati u upstream Gnomeu, ono što treba desktopu je minimize on click opcija za dock koja trenutno postoji ja mislim preko editiranja dconfa i pretraživanje slično Unity dashu. Tek sa ovom promjenom se pokazuje koliko je zapravo Unity bio odličan i dobro osmišljen desktop, neki ljudi žele Unity flavor napraviti pa sada pregovaraju kako najbolje to izvesti.
