Da li će vanjski dizajn ostati isti kao na modelu sa Androidom nemam pojma, ali to nije ni bitno za prve modele već je bitno da budu dostupni i da ostvare neku prihvatljivu prodaju. Meizu MX4 je odličan mobitel a da li ima Ubuntu logo na kućištu ili ne je manje bitno. Ja kada bi ga kupio stavio bi sam naljepnicu na mobitel Bilo bi lijepo da ima Ubuntu logo ali nije to previše važno za prvi model. Nadam se da će BQ ponuditi neki dobar ali jeftin model da bude dostupniji za što veći broj kupaca, oba bi trebala biti dostupna online za kupovinu, ja se nadam u što većem broju zemalja.

Meizu MX4 tehnicke karakteristike:

This is the first phone built by Meizu to feature the new MediaTek MT6595 SoC (system on chip), which is actually a very powerful solution. It's an octa-core, meaning that it's a processor with eight cores, although it's a little bit different from what you would expect. It actually comes with a quad-core 2.2 GHz Cortex A17 processor and a quad-core 1.7 GHz A7 processor, and the devs say that it uses a technology called CorePilot that shifts processes from core to core. This means that the performance of the phone is much better and the battery life is improved dramatically.

"We have made the MX4 compatible with 5 network types across 13 different frequency bands. The MX4 can make use of the latest TD-LTE and FDD-LTE 4G networks, FDD-LTE reaching a download speed of 150 Mbps, almost 6 times that of the previous-generation device," says Meizu on their official website.

Also, Meizu MX4 comes with the 802.11ac Wi-Fi protocol, which registers Internet speeds of up 433 Mbps, a 3100 mAh battery from Sony, a 20.7 mega-pixel SONY premium IMX220 Exmor RS sensor, the NXP Smart PS audio processor, and the PowerVR H6200 GPU. It also comes in two versions, with 16 and 32 GB.

The best feature seems to be the new screen, which features the Nega liquid crystal technology developed with Sharp and JDI that has a size of 5.36 (15:9 ration), 1100:1 contrast ratio, and 500cd/m² for the led backlight.

Sveučilište u Nantesu prešlo na Ubuntu. Debian se vrti na serverima, dok je na 1700 desktop računala instaliran Ubuntu (nije naveden koja verzija). Zanimljivo je da je na nekima postavljen dual boot, no Ubuntu je višestruko popularniji od Windowsa. Svi su oduševljeni.

The first image of Ubuntu Touch has been declared as ready for "release to manufacturing" after much work by Canonical.

After bug fixing and testing, the landing team for Ubuntu Phone has promoted their first image for ubuntu-rtm distribution. Łukasz Zemczak wrote, "We have promoted our first image from the ubuntu-rtm distribution! After QA did promotion-wise exploratory testing of #44 (krillin) and gave us a green light we decided to promote krillin's #44 and it's mako counterpart - #41, to the ubuntu-rtm/14.09 channel. That's excellent news as per our agreement we will not enter TRAINCON-0 but continue normal operation. Yay!"

Those wishing to try out this gold release can use the ubuntu-rtm/14.09 image on a supported Ubuntu Touch device -- namely the newer Google Nexus devices. Details on setting up Ubuntu Touch for those systems can be found via the Ubuntu Wiki.

The RTM announcement also says, "this image seems to be the most stable ubuntu-rtm image we ever had. Most blockers have been resolved (along with the no-input unity8 lockup bug), with only more minor issues remaining."

In December is when the first phone running Ubuntu Touch is expected for release, the Meizu MX4.

We saw last month just how close native Netflix support for Linux is to arriving, with now only a few simple steps required to enable HTML5 video streaming on Ubuntu desktops.

Now Netflix wants to go one step further. It wants to bring true, out-of-the-box Netflix playback to all Ubuntu users. And all it requires is an update to the Network Security Services library.

Netflix Natively? Neato.
In an e-mail sent to the Ubuntu Developer mailing list Netflix’s Paul Adolph explains the current situation:

“Netflix will play with Chrome stable in 14.02 if NSS version 3.16.2 or greater is installed. If this version is generally installed across 14.02, Netflix would be able to make a change so users would no longer have to hack their User-Agent to play.”

While the upcoming release of Ubuntu 14.10 offers the newer NSS v3.17, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS — used by the majority of users — currently offers v3.15.x.

NSS is a set of libraries that supports a range of security-enabled client and server applications, including SSL, TLS, PKCS and other security standards. Keen to enable native HTML5 Netflix for Ubuntu LTS users, Paul asks:

“What is the process of getting a new NSS version into the update stream? Or can somebody please provide me with the right contact?”

Netflix began offering HTML5 video playback on Windows 8.1 and OS X Yosemite earlier this year, negating the need for any extra downloads or plugins. The switch has been made possible through the Encrypted Media Extension spec.

Update: September 19
Since this article was published Canonical has confirmed that a version bump to the current nss library is planned to be pushed out with the next ‘security update’. This could arrive on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS within the next two weeks.

This news has pleased Netflix’s Paul Adolph who, in response, says he will ‘make a case to lift the user-agent filtering which will make Netflix HTML5 play in Chrome turnkey with no hacks required’ as soon as the updated package lands.

Kakve veze ima Canonical s izradom hardvera i pitanjem dizajna hardvera i kakve ima veze Canonical s odlukom proizvođača hardvera o tome na koji će uređaj staviti Ubuntu?
