Evo jedan savjet. Pretplati se na njihove mailing liste (imaš ih nekoliko), poskidaj arhive tih lista, importiraj ih u svoj mail klijent (potrajat će, ali će se isplatiti). Primjer tvog problema s lfs-support mailing liste:

I am building on an Arch Linux host system which is running the latest
versions of each installed package, including gcc-4.7.1-4. A Google
search showed that this is a known issue and the solution requires
making a simple change [1] to /gcc-4.6.2/gcc/gengtype.c after
extracting the package.

As I couldn't find any similar posting on this list I am posting this
in case it can help others. Thanks for a great project and a
fantastic learning experience.

Naravno, Google je glavni, a kad su patchevi u pitanju i nema odgovora na LFS mailing listama ili u dokumentaciji, odgovor često nađeš na Gentoo stranicama, wikiju i forumima. Ja sam svojevremeno hrpe kojekakvih patcheva poskidao odande, a pogotovo mi je to trebalo kad nisam išao striktno po (B)LFS knjizi.

Kakve su performanse LFS-a? Jel to nešto primjetno brže od normalnih?

Čak i generički je brže, a ako fino sve poštelaš za svoj sistem (kernel, make...) onda je dosta bolje. Generalno, sve je življe, brže se pokreće. Neki programi osjetno brže rade, dok ih ima i koji su tu negdje kao i kod normalnih distri.

Drone, kao tvoj exert opinion, za početak je li bolje krenut sa 32-bitnim ili 64-bitnim sustavom ?

Najbolje sa onim sustavom kakav je i komp na kejeg češ instalirati.
