Zanimljivo hlađenje.. + kaj me podsjeća na "crnu kutiju" iz aviona

Ima pasivno hlađenje, ventilator jedino hladi napajanje, sviđa mi se

kad ovako gledam ovu sliku izgleda ko neka malo veca kutija koja bi mi mogla stati na stol ali kada sam procitao koliko ima toga u sebi odma mi se promjenila slika na onaj kontejner za prijevoz robe
sve u svemu zanimljivo se ovaj Canonical guzi sa komponentama

Zapravo i nije tako veliko računalo.



Definitivno stane na stol. Može se kupiti i kofer za nošenje za lakši transport.

Today AMD announced a set of industry benchmark performance records for hyperscale OpenStack running on Ubuntu OpenStack (Icehouse) and AMD’s SeaMicro SM15000™ system. The benchmarking, which is the largest known demonstration of OpenStack scalability ever, highlights how OpenStack can quickly and reliably provision on-demand computing. As a result, there are three new benchmark records set:

The first created 75,000 VMs and in just 6.5 hours; this is a whole 1.5 hours faster than any previous record and days faster than a usual implementation of this scale.

The second benchmark of 100,000 VMs on 380 hosts, blows past the previous record in a speedy 11 hours.

The third, possibly the most notable, is the number of VMs that could be launched with the hardware; the benchmark reached 168,000 VMs with 576 physical hosts.

These benchmark records were made possible thanks to the integration of our own Metal as a Service (MAAS) tool, combined with SeaMicro SM15000 provisioning API. MAAS automates the deployment of Ubuntu and is finely tuned to do so exceptionally quickly, meaning systems can be provisioned at scale. The solution is available today and is the most scalable, automated application for deploying OpenStack in hyperscale environments.

Big news is that IBM are coming to the Ubuntu ecosystem and collaborating with Canonical in a few areas. The first is to contribute to Juju and build out a set of Juju enabled services (BlueMix for example). The second is that IBM and Canonical are collaborating to integrate Juju with Heat, the OpenStack specific orchestration framework. Juju orchestrates services across multiple clouds, hypervisors and baremetal hardware so OpenStack users who have Heat templates can now continue to use those and benefit from powerful orchestration of Juju. The third collaboration with IBM is around TOSCA. OASIS TOSCA is an initiative to standardise specifications to describe processes that create or modify web services. With many orchestration services emerging, TOSCA is needed to maintain interoperability so working with IBM will ensure that Juju is in lockstep with the TOSCA specification.

The OpenStack ecosystem is diverse and encompasses several operating systems. So it is with pride that we announced that Juju can now orchestrate CentOS and Windows based services. Mark Shuttleworth showed Juju orchestrating a Windows Hyper-V based Nova compute node. This is exciting but perhaps even more exciting is the ability to deploy Active Directory, Sharepoint and SQLServer using Juju’s drag and drop interface. Now architecting and deploying services using multiple operating systems across multiple environments is easier than ever.

China’s National University of Defense Technology, NUDT, developers of the Tianhe-2 supercomputer, and Canonical, the organisation behind Ubuntu, today announce a collaboration to bring OpenStack to the world’s fastest supercomputer for high performance cloud environments.

The new collaboration with Canonical will enable Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Openstack and Ubuntu’s orchestration tool, Juju, to run TienHe2. Today, Ubuntu OpenStack is running on 256 high performance nodes and this will grow to over 6400 nodes in the coming months. The nodes will be available to Government departments in Guangdong province as well as other NUDT partners for analysis, census, and eGovernment applications.

“The desktop team would like to add a new flavour (we don’t plan to have any formal releases at this point) of Ubuntu which contains the Unity 8 desktop and the new applications which have been developed for the touch project.

The initial intention is to provide a product which developers can use to figure out the work that’s required to make a desktop product based on this software usable, and to create a space for experimentation to figure out the best ways of carrying out the required integration.”

Over the last few months we’ve seen significant traction with Ubuntu Kylin among users and PC hardware manufacturers. Downloads from the Ubuntu Kylin community sites in China are continuing to gain momentum, with over three million people downloading Ubuntu Kylin in the first 12 months. The initial adoption of Ubuntu Kylin 14.04 LTS, launched in April, has been phenomenal, with over one million additional new downloads.

On that note, I’m pleased to announce that our first Ubuntu Kylin OEM partner is HP and we’re working closely together on some great products. HP brings a wealth of experience and support for open source on the desktop, having already shipped millions of HP systems preloaded with Ubuntu worldwide. Ubuntu više ne podržava stabilni Cinnamon PPA

Ubuntu repozitoriji više ne podržavaju starije verzije GNOME paketa, na kojima se temelji i Cinnamon, stoga se i ukida stabilno PPA izdanje Cinnamona. Od sada je dostupno isključivo nightbuild (testno) izdanje dostupno za Ubuntu 14.04:

Starija Ubuntu izdanja mogu koristiti Cinnamon 1.4 dostupan izravno iz Mint repoa i .deb fajlova ili kompajliranjem najnovije verzije s Cinnamon Git-a.
