SolusOS Beta 1.2 is the latest release of the Linux Distribution based on the very stable Debian Linux. It works out of the box. It's suitable for old and new computers alike. SolusOS uses the 6.04 stable branch of the Debian distribution. Never again will you have to worry about "dependency hell" or buggy software destroying your installation. This means you’re going to have a high level of stability without the need to reinstall every few months. Ikey Doherty, an Irish software developer living in England, is the head Developer and SolusOS founder. SolusOS is fully functional live with no need to install. SolusOS works on both 32 or 64-bit systems. The SolusOS Beta 1.2 (DEV- 063.iso) download took about eight minutes.
I installed SolusOS on my hard drive in six minutes. It was a quick and painless install process. After the install, you are greeted to a very attractive a specially made gnome 2.30 desktop and Zuki Blues Theme. Beta 1.2 includes across-the-board improvements. The time from boot splash to log-in screen was very fast. Just seconds. A new main menu icon is located in the left side of the bottom panel. SolusOS includes a vast number of applications in its Software Package Manager and ISO. All the software applications (programs) anyone may want or need, appear to be included. Everything works out of the box.
The web browser is arguably the most important piece of software on your computer. Google Chrome is the default web browser. Google Chrome is designed to be fast in every possible way. It's quick to start up, loads web pages in a snap, and runs complex web applications lightning fast. Flash Earth can be bookmarked to view the world. Google Maps can be used for a closer look or add Google Street view.
LibreOffice (complete installation) is the power-packed free open source personal productivity suite, that gives you six feature-rich applications for all your document production and data processing needs: Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math and Base.
SolusOS is multimedia ready. Once you've installed SolusOS, you're good to go. Browse the internet, play your latest 3D games or sit back and watch a DVD. Manage your MP3 collection all from one system. YouTube can provide all the TV or music videos anyone could want. The Hulu desktop can be bookmarked for additional TV viewing.
Everything works out of the box. SolusOS has very quickly matured to the point where there is nothing to talk about except it's shiny new features and visual tweaks instead of discussing system errors or weird configurations found in many new Linux Distros. SolusOS has raised the bar for other distributions. Visit the SolusOS site or user forums.
